Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

(I just attempted to personalize my own journal, so I'm hoping this will work.)

So what kind of art do you like to see me draw? Is it fanart, or a certain character, what is it?

Also reminding everyone, that I'll be here with you guys more often, because I have more free time to spare, however I can no longer take anymore requests, art trades, or collabs, but commissions are open. Really, I like just about anything you make, I just generally fave only the Mario stuff.

As far as Art Trades and stuff, that's exactly why I stopped doing them, a while back. Not to mention people wouldn't live up to their end, just to get a free request out of me. I don't like that.

Also, I don't have as much free time as I once did, so...... yah. :m

Thank you, I fav mostly Mario stuff also, but I fav a lot of other things as well.

I've never had any one not finish their side of the trade, thankfully, but I have done a lot of free requests for people, some who didn't even thank me for it after, not that I was really expecting much in return anyway.

Same here, it happens as we get older. I've noticed I don't have as much energy or motivation as I did when I was younger, but it also depends on my mood.

Yup. That's exactly what's goin' on over my way, too. :I These days, I most of the time, would rather just spend what free time I have, playing a game, or just fartin' around on the internet somewhere. XP

Thank you! Well, I'm not so confident in my original art that I can submit all of it, but I try every now and then. It doesn't bother me if everyone only likes my fanart, I think I'd be a hypocrite if it did bother me, because I enjoy drawing it, and I enjoy when other artists draw it.
